Embedding Echo Videos in Learn Ultra Courses

This guide will demonstrate how to embed EchoVideo media within a Blackboard Learn Ultra course.

Linking EchoVideo Content as a Standalone Item

These instructions will demonstrate how to create a standalone link to an Echo360 video.

This method only creates a link to the video instead of creating an embedded player.

Accessing Course Tools

  1. To link content from EchoVideo as a standalone item, hover over the divider between content items and click the plus button where you wish to add the item.
  2. Select Content Market from the menu.

A new screen labeled Content Market will open. Scroll down to the Institutional Tools section and select Echo360 Media Embed (For Ultra Courses Only)

Selecting Video Content

When selecting the Echo360 Video Library option, you will be presented with a screen with the following options for selecting, creating or uploading content.

  1. Choose Existing Content: Click the Launch Media Picker link to select content you have already added to your EchoVideo library.
  2. Create Content: Use the links in this section to launch Universal Capture or Browser Capture.
  3. Upload Content: Use the Upload Media link to upload new media from your computer for embedding in your course.

You can now use the selection tool to select the media object you wish to embed.

  1. Search: Enter search terms in the search bar.
  2. Filter Options: Use the filter options to narrow down your search by Type, Courses, Section, Term, and Date.
  3. Select the video you wish to use from the list on the right.
  4. Click the Next button when you are finished.

  1. Select size: Use the dropdown menu to select the embedded video size.
  2. Start at: Click here to modify the start time for the video
  3. Autoplay: Select this option to automatically play the video (recommended setting is off)
  4. Automute: Select this option to mute the audio volume by default.
  5. Discussion: Select this option to enable or disable discussions related to the video (This option is on by default)
  6. Link: Select this option to create a link to the video instead of embedding (recommended for student assignment submissions, as the embed feature does not work for assignments).
  7. Click the Embed button to insert the video into the text editor.

The video link will then appear at the desired insertion point in Blackboard.

Embedding EchoVideo Content within a Document

These instructions will demonstrate how to embed EchoVideo Content within a document in Learn Ultra

Building Content in Learn Ultra

  1. To create a course document, hover over the divider between content items and click the plus button where you wish to add the item.
  2. Select Create from the menu.

You will now see the Create Item side panel open. Select Document from the list of options.

Embedding Echo360 Content in a Document

You will now see a screen similar to the one above. Click on Add Content to start building the document

You will now see the text editor in Blackboard.

  1. To add embedded EchoVideo content, click on the + sign in the text editor toolbar.
  2. Select Content Market from the menu.

The video embed will then appear in the text editor for the document you are working on. Click the Save button to finish.
