Microsoft Reflect in Blackboard

Updated on

This article will cover how to enable the Reflect application for Blackboard's Microsoft for Education.

First step is to Enable Microsoft Education by following that link.

Image of details and actions

After enabling Microsoft Education, select Open Microsoft Education under Details and Actions.

Image of photo or initials and course settings

1. At the top right select where the photo or initials are.

2. Select to drop down to Course Settings.

Image of show reflect toggle

1. Toggle on Reflect.

2. Select Done.

When using Microsoft for Education tools, it is important to note  that the Reflect created inside Blackboard is not the same  Reflect as the one created inside a Microsoft Teams Class, outside of  Blackboard.

This means:

  • Content added to Blackboard Reflect will not appear in a Teams application Notebook.
  • Changes made in Teams Reflect will not sync with Blackboard.

To avoid confusion for instructors and students, it is recommended to select one platform to host Reflect.

Above is an example of the two side by side. The first application is  Microsoft Teams and accessing a Reflect. The second application  is Firefox to access Blackboard Microsoft for Education accessing Reflect.

Microsoft Applications Support

Support for Microsoft 365, including Teams Class Notebook, is provided  through IT. More information about using and Supporting Teams can be  found at https://www.utoledo.edu/it/office365/teams/.
