This guide will demonstrate how to add polling activities to videos in EchoVideo
If you plan on making edits to your video, you must make edits to the video before adding the poll. After the poll is made, you will not be able to make edits to the video
Accessing Videos
To add a poll to a video from your library:
- Locate the video you would like to add a poll to and click the button with the three dots that appears when mousing over the video.
- Click on More Actions
- Select Add Poll from the menu.
Adding a Poll
You will now see the selected video on screen. To add a poll, click the Create a Poll button.
Creating a Poll
To add an activity, select the type of activity you would like to create.
- Multiple Choice
- Short Answer
- Image Poll
- Ordered List
- Numerical
Creating Polls by Poll Type
Please click on the links below for instructions on creating specific poll types
To create a Multiple Choice Poll:
- Time Placement: Enter the time for the point you would like to place the poll
- Question: Type the question you wish to ask here.
- Embed Media: Click the slider if you wish to embed media into the question.
- Answers: Enter the answer text in the space provided, and click the Correct button on the right to mark an answer as correct. Click the Delete (Trash Can) button to remove an answer choice.
- Click the + Answer link to add additional answer choices
- All correct answers must be selected in order to be correct: Check this box to only grade items where students have selected all correct answers as correct.
- Require Justification: Check this checkbox to require students to justify their answer choice using a free response
- Feedback: Click on Feedback to expand this section to enter feedback for each selection.
- Click the Preview button to see a preview of how the activity would appear to students.
- When finished, click the Done button.
To add a Short Answer Activity:
- Poll Time Placement: Enter the time for the point you would like to place the poll
- Question: Enter the question you wish to ask here.
- Feedback: Click on the Feedback heading to expand the feedback area to enter feedback for the item.
- Click the Preview button to see how the question appears to students
- Click the Done button to create the question.
To add an Image Poll:
- Poll Time Placement: Enter the time for the point you would like to place the poll
- Question: Enter the question you wish to ask here.
- Click the Choose Image button to upload an image.
- After uploading the image, the selected image will be shown on screen. Click the Mark Solution button to define a region in which selected answers would be marked as correct.
- Alt text: Enter an image description in this space.
- Require Justification: Check this checkbox to require students to justify their answer choice using a free response form.
- Feedback: Click on the Feedback link and type in response feedback in the space that appears.
- Click the Preview button to see how the question appears to students.
- Click the Done button to create the Image Quiz activity.
To add an Ordered List activity:
- Poll Time Placement: Enter the time for the point you would like to place the poll
- Question: Enter the question you wish to ask here.
- Answers: Enter the answers in the correct order, with one answer per blank.
- + Answer: Click the + Answer button to add an additional answer choice.
- Has a correct answer: Check this dialog box to mark answers as correct or incorrect.
- Require Justification: Check this checkbox to require students to justify their answer choice using a free response form.
- Feedback: Click on the Feedback link to expand the feedback area and enter the feedback in the space provided.
- Click the Preview button to see how the question appears to students.
- Click the Done button to create the Ordered List activity.
To add a Numerical activity:
- Poll Time Placement: Enter the time for the point you would like to place the poll
- Question: Enter the question you wish to ask in the space provided.
- Answer type: Select either Exact Answer or Answer Range, and enter the range of acceptable values in the spaces provided.
- Require Justification: Check this checkbox to require students to justify their answer choice using a free response form.
- Feedback: Click the Feedback link to expand the feedback section and enter correct and incorrect feedback in the respective fields.
- Click the Preview button to see how the question appears to students.
- Click the Done button to create the Numerical activity.
Finishing Up
After adding a Poll, a vertical line will appear in the timeline selector to indicate the location of the poll question. When finished adding poll questions to a video, click Save to save the video with the poll questions.
