In addition to using EchoVideo as a media repository for videos recorded using the Universal Capture: Personal application or uploaded from other sources, EchoVideo can also be used to schedule video recordings in classrooms. There are two types of Classroom recording: Hardware and software recording.
Automated recordings can be sent to your EchoVideo section and linked to your Blackboard course, or recordings can be sent to your library for uploading later.
A list of classrooms and supported technologies is maintained by Classroom Support Services. If you are teaching in a departmental classroom or conference room, please contact the academic department for more information about available technologies.
Ad hoc Recordings
Instructors can also perform ad hoc recordings by opening Universal Capture Classroom or by pressing the Record button on the EchoVideo device status screen (POD devices), or by pressing the Record button on the device face (PRO devices) Ad Hoc captures have a default length of 60 minutes, but recordings can be extended up to 8 hours, or up to the time of the next scheduled recording.
Hardware Capture
Important! You must log into Blackboard and link your Blackboard course to EchoVideoprior to requesting scheduled recordings if you want the lectures published automatically to Blackboard.
Hardware capture uses specialized hardware devices to record classroom audio and video.
This list contains a list of all classrooms that have Echo360 hardware capture). Classrooms with Echo360 hardware can typically capture all devices routed to the projector (including guest devices and document cameras.)
If you are in a classroom with an Echo360 POD device, you can perform an ad hoc capture by pressing the red Record button on the device display. If you are in a classroom with a PRO device, press the Record button on the device face, and press the Stop button to stop the recording. After performing an ad hoc capture, contact UToledo Online support to associate the video with your Echo360 account.

Software Capture
Other classrooms have Universal Capture: Classroom installed on the room computer, with a webcam plugged into the computer. Recordings can either be scheduled in advance or on an ad-hoc basis. Recording with the classroom software follows the same process as recording on the Universal Capture: Personal application. However, recordings are limited to one hour, but the time can be extended up to 8 hours, or up to the next scheduled recording.
For scheduled captures using Universal Capture: Classroom, please be sure to turn on the room computer and log in prior to the start of the capture. If instructor logs in late, capture will start at login and run until scheduled end of capture automatically. Capture must be allowed to complete and upload to EchoVideo before instructor logs out of computer. This will take about a minute after scheduled end of capture. Failing to do so will result in loss of capture.

Note: If you are using scheduled recordings in a room with software capture, only the room computer will be able to be captured. If you wish to use your own computer, you would need to launch the capture software on your computer and manually start each recording.
