This article will outline how to disable student downloads of your Echo videos published to an Echo course.
Downloads are default enabled at an institutional level. This override is only available at the Echo course level and cannot be applied to individual or embedded Echo videos.
Click on the Echo360 Course Link in your Blackboard course where your videos will be published. See the guides for creating an Echo course link and publishing content to your Echo course.
- In your Echo Course Link, select Settings from the top tabs on the right hand side.
- Select Features from the left hand menu list of Settings options.
- Select the toggles for different controls. Toggling off the Class Content Downloads prevents all downloads for students and TA's. If you leave that button on, you can instead toggle on to allow audio-only downloads; you can also further restrict out of term downloads.
You may need to scroll your screen to see the toggle buttons, due to the Accessibility button on the left side of the screen.
Note: It is uncommon for students to download videos unless they have specific accessibility needs.
Echo is a secure and private hosting platform. The videos can only be accessed where they are published, such as in the Blackboard course; courses are only available to students for a single semester, by default.
Public links to Echo videos are an exception, as they can be shared to anyone.
