Embedding Content in Blackboard Using the Echo360 Media Embed Tool
This guide will demonstrate how to use the Echo360 Media Embed tool to embed Echo360 videos in content items.
This guide is applicable to Learn Original courses.
Creating a Content Item in Blackboard
In an open content area in Blackboard,
- Click Build Content at the top of the page
- Select Item from the menu
Accessing the Echo360 Media Embed Tool
- Name: Enter a name for the content item
- Add Content: Click on the plus icon in the bottom row of the toolbar to add additional content types.
You will now see a dialog box with the heading labeled Add Content. On this screen, select Echo360 Media Embed from the list of options.
Selecting Video Content
When selecting the Echo360 Video Library option, you will be presented with a screen with the following options for selecting, creating or uploading content.
- Choose Existing Content: Click the Launch Media Picker link to select content you have already added to your EchoVideo library.
- Create Content: Use the links in this section to launch Universal Capture or Browser Capture.
- Upload Content: Use the Upload Media link to upload new media from your computer for embedding in your course.
You can now use the selection tool to select the media object you wish to embed.
- Search: Enter search terms in the search bar.
- Filter Options: Use the filter options to narrow down your search by Type, Courses, Section, Term, and Date.
- Select the video you wish to use from the list on the right.
- Click the Next button when you are finished.
Inserting a Video
- Select size: Use the dropdown menu to select the embedded video size.
- Start at: Click here to modify the start time for the video
- Autoplay: Select this option to automatically play the video (recommended setting is off)
- Automute: Select this option to mute the audio volume by default.
- Discussion: Select this option to enable or disable discussions related to the video (This option is on by default)
- Link: Select this option to create a link to the video instead of embedding (recommended for student assignment submissions, as the embed feature does not work for assignments).
- Click the Embed button to insert the video into the text editor.
Confirmation
The video will now be embedded in a Blackboard content item.
