Uploading Files to SafeAssign for Instructors in Blackboard Learn Ultra

This guide will demonstrate how instructors can upload documents into SafeAssign directly to evaluate the originality of the files. This guide will cover uploading files and copying and pasting text.

This guide is for Blackboard Learn Ultra Course View.

Accessing the SafeAssign Tool in Learn Ultra Course View

On the Content page of your Learn Ultra course, look for Books and Tools in the Details and Actions panel and click on the View course and institution tools link.

The Books and Course Tools side panel will open on the right. Select SafeAssign from the list of options.

Instructors can then either upload files or copy and paste text into SafeAssign.

You will now see a page labeled SafeAssign. Click on Upload File to upload a file for plagiarism detection.

Uploading a File

SafeAssign supports the following file types: .zip, .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .odt, .txt, .pdf, .rtf, and .html.

You will now see the SafeAssign sidebar open on the right with the following options:

  1. Check for plagiarism: Check this option to evaluate the attached document for originality.
  2. Add to institutional database: Check this option to add the submitted file to the institutional database.
  3. Share: Check this checkbox if you want to share the file and originality report with other instructors in the class.
  4. Upload file: Drag and drop or click on the Upload a File button to upload the file you wish to evaluate.
  5. When you are finished, click the Submit button.

Once you upload your file, you will now be taken back to the previous screen. You will see a message saying "Your file was successfully uploaded" and your file will appear in the list of files.

Copying and Pasting Text

You will now see a page labeled SafeAssign. Click on Copy/Paste text to paste text for plagiarism detection.

You will now see a screen labeled Copy/Paste Text:

  1. Check for plagiarism: Check this option to evaluate the pasted text for originality.
  2. Add to institutional database: Check this option to add the submitted text to the institutional database.
  3. Share: Check this checkbox if you want to share the text and originality report with other instructors in the class.
  4. Title: Enter a title for the the pasted text here.
  5. Text: Paste your text in this field here.
  6. When finished, click the Submit button to process the submitted text in SafeAssign

Confirmation

You will now receive conformation that the text was uploaded successfully and your text will appear in the list of files.
