This guide will demonstrate how to grade student submissions using rubrics in Blackboard Learn Ultra.
Accessing the Gradebook
To access the Gradebook in Ultra and to grade student submissions:
- Click on Gradebook in the top menu in your course.
- Select Gradable items.
- Click on the assignment you wish to grade.
Viewing Student Attempts
You will now see the list of students who have submitted work. Click on the name of the student you wish to grade.
Grading Student Attempts using a Rubric
The selected student's submission will appear on the left. The rubric grading tools will appear on the right.
- Click on the Grading Rubric heading to expand the assigned grading rubric.
- Show Descriptions: Click on the slider to show grading descriptions.
- Criteria: Each rubric criterion header will appear in line, with the available scoring levels shown under each criterion.
- To assign a grade for each criterion, click on the desired criterion to assign.
- Click on the Comments button to add comments for each criterion.
Comments can be added by typing in the comments field. Click on the arrow in the upper right hand corner to close the comments field. After a comment has been entered, the comment button will turn purple.
Finishing Grading
Once the grading rubric has been completed, the grades for each criterion and the overall grade will be filled in. Instructors can also add overall comments using the Overall Feedback section.
- Click on Overall Feedback to enter comments.
- Type your comments in the field provided.
- Click the Save Changes button to save the comments.
