Using the AI Design Assistant to Improve Document Layouts

The AI Design Assistant allows instructors to transform class documents  with engaging layouts, images, headers and knowledge check items.

  • Attractive layouts
    • The AI Design Assistant suggests clean, structured layouts and adds helpful headings automatically.
  • Images
    • Instructors can include AI-generated images or choose from a selection of stock images from Unsplash.
  • Knowledge checks
    • The AI Design Assistant generates multiple choice questions based on the Documents content to help check student understanding.

Using the AI Design Assistant

These instructions will explain how to take an existing document and transform it using the AI Design Assistant.

Within your Blackboard UCV Course, locate the document you would like to transform.

  1. Click on the ellipsis to the right of the item to open the options menu.
  2. Select Edit from the menu.

The selected document will now be open on screen. To use the AI design assistant, click on the AI Assistant button in the upper left corner.

The AI Design Assistant will appear on screen. You will be presented with the following options on the left:

  1. Include relevant images: Select this option to select a relevant image from the Unsplash image gallery or use a generated image.
  2. Include knowledge check: Select this option to include an automatically generated knowledge check related to the document content.
  3. Generate: Click the Generate button to generate new content based on the selected parameters.
  4. The generated content will appear on screen. Once you have reviewed the content, click Apply Layout to update the selected document.

 

Editing Generated Content

The generated content will now appear in the document editor. Once you have reviewed the content and made any updates, click the Save button in the upper right hand corner to apply the layout changes.
