Auto Generating Test Items

This guide will demonstrate how to use the auto generate feature in Learn Ultra to quickly create test items.

Adding Items to a Test

To automatically generate questions, click on the plus sign on the divider at the point where you would like to add your questions.

Select the Auto-Generate Questions option from the top of the list.

  1. Define questions: In the Description field, enter a short description to use to generate questions.
  2. Select course items: Click on the Select Course Items button to select course items to base questions on.
  3. Question type: Select the type of questions you would like to generate (Essay, Fill in the Blank, Matching, Multiple Choice, True/False) or choose Inspire Me to generate a variety of question types.
  4. Complexity: Use the slider to change the complexity of questions generated.
  5. Number of questions: Use the slider to specify the number of questions to generate, from 1 to 10 questions.
  6. When finished, click the Generate button to create questions.

Generated questions will appear on the right. Use the checkboxes to select the questions you wish to add to your test, and click the Add to Assessment button in the bottom right corner to add the selected items.

Finishing Up

The generated questions will now appear on the Test Canvas. Instructors can now view, edit, or change point values for the generated questions.
