Assigning Groups to a Discussion

This article will cover how to assign the groups to a group discussion.

This is the Ultra Course View, go to Original Course View.

Instructors can create an Ultra course discussion first and then create Ultra course groups, or create Ultra course groups and assign to a discussion.

Creating a New Discussion and Assigning Groups.

Only groups visible to students will be able to be assigned to Discussions.

Select New Discussion.

Select the gear icon for Discussion Settings.

Select Assign to groups.

Blackboard Ultra will prompt instructors to a page to create groups. For more information please visit Creating Ultra Course Groups.

Adding Current Ultra Course Groups to a Discussion

Only groups visible to students will be able to be assigned to Discussions.

1. Select the 3 dots for settings.

2. Select Edit.

Select the gear icon for Discussion Settings.

Select Assign to groups.

Select the Group Set to use the groups already created.

Select Save.

If members are moved, the membership changes wherever these groups are used, such as in a group discussion, assessments and cloud documents.
