Editing Assignment Settings

This guide will demonstrate how to modify assignment settings in Blackboard Ultra.

Accessing the Assignment

To edit your assignment:

  1. Locate the assignment you wish to edit and click on the [...] menu icon to the right of the assignment.
  2. Select Edit from the menu.

Details and Information

1. By default, the assignment due date is set to the next day when the assignment was created, instructors can change the due date and time.

2. Select the check box if there is no due date.

3. Select the check box to prohibit late submissions, this will auto submit any attempts in progress.

4. Select the check box to prohibit new attempts after the due date, students will not be able to start after the due date has passed.

5. Select the check box to allow class conversations.

Submission Details

1. By default assignments allows for online submissions, Select the drop down arrow to allow Offline Submissions.

2. By default assignments allow students to upload a file and add text, deselect if these two will not be used.

Formative Tools

When instructors create or edit an assignment,  selecting formative assessment will display a formative label will to students for that assignment.

Grading & Submission

1. By default the assignment will remain in the assignment category for the Overall Grade, select the drop down to change the grade category.

2. By default the assignment will allow 1 attempt, select the drop down to change the number of attempts.

3. By default, the grade will use points, select the drop down to change to percentage, complete/incomplete, or letter grade.

4. By default the point value is set to 100, type a point value in the text box to change the value.

5. Select the check box to hide student names for anonymous grading.

6. Evaluation options for: 2 graders per student, peer review, or delegate grading.

7. For assignments, instructors must review the submission and enter a grade manually. Select the check box to post assessment grades automatically, the grade will release to the student immediately upon entry.

Assessment Security

1. Select the link to add an access code. Instructors will need to provide the code to students.

2. To use Respondus Lockdown Browser, select the link to enter the Respondus dashboard.

Additional Tools

1. Select the link to add time limit.

2. Select the link to add a grading rubric.

3. Select the link to align with goals.

4. Select the link to assign to groups.

5. Select the link to enable Safeassign.
