This article will cover how instructors can create AI conversations. around a topic or scenario to engage students using Socratic Questioning.
Creating Socratic Questioning
Hover to an area within the course to create new AI conversations. Select the plus sign.

Select Create.

Select AI conversations.

1. Type in a title of the assignment.
2. Select extra credit check box or points.
3. Select the Socratic Questioning box.

1. Select Step 2 of 3.
2. Type in the text box a topic of conversation.
3. Select Next.

1. Select Edit image to change the image.
2. Select the text box to provide a name.
3. Select the text box to provide a personality trait.
4. Select Save.
After selecting Save, Instructors can edit the reflection question and change the total points.

Select the elipsis, 3 dots, to edit the text of the question as well as set the grading to give full credit to everyone, extra credit, or change the point value.
1. Type in a new reflection question.
2. Select the check box to make the assignment Extra Credit or change the point value.
3. Select Save.
AI Conversations Settings

1. Select the gear icon for all settings.
2. Select a direct link to change individual setting.

1. Edit Due date or:
- Select no due date.
- Prohibit late submissions.
- Prohibit new attempts after due date.
- Allow class conversations for this particular AI conversation.
2. By default, Blackboard has set this to a formative assessment. Instructors can deselect the check boxes to make it a non-formative assessment.
3. Grading & Submissions allows instructors to update:
- Grade category
- Attempts allowed
- Grade using points, percentages, letter, or complete /incomplete
- Maximum points will reflect total points given.

1. Instructors can update assessments results for:
- Submission View
- Automated Questions Feedback
- Questions Scores
- Correct Answers.
2. Assessment securit includes:
- Add an access code and provide that code to students so they can begin the assessment.
- Require students to use Respondus Lockdown Browser while taking the assessment.
3. Additional Tools Include:
- Setting a time limit.
- Align assessment with goals and standards.
Select Save.
