Gradebook Automatic Zero

This article will cover automatic zero function in Blackboards Gradebook.

By default, Blackboards setting for automatic zero is turned on for items that have a set due date and time. Any items that pass the due date and time, the Gradebook will assign an automatic zero.

1. Select the Gradebook tab.

2. Select the gear icon for settings.

By default the assign automatic zeros for past due work is turned on. If an instructor chooses not to assign automatic zeros for past due work, deselect the check box to disable the feature.

Students can submit late to update their grades. Students with due date accommodations are not affected.

When disabling the automatic zero function, instructors will receive a pop up message to choose:

1. Keep existing automatic zeros.

Or,

2. Clear existing automatic zeros.

3. Select Confirm.

When automatic zeros are enabled, instructors have the ability to override the grade.
