Enable Microsoft Education for Blackboard Ultra Course View (UCV)

Updated on

This article will cover how to enable Microsoft Education for Blackboard Ultra Courses. This integration includes Teams and Teams Meetings, OneDrive, and OneNote that are directly accessible within the Blackboard Ultra Course.

August 2025 update - Microsoft is actively developing this integration so changes may appear as new features/changes are added.

Microsoft Teams Meetings can be used for live class sessions and other direct course interactions.

Microsoft and Office365 technical support is provided by the IT Help Desk.

Enable Microsoft Education in Blackboard Ultra Course View

Under Details and Actions, select Enable Microsoft Education.

Select Sync with Microsoft Education

The integration will show as "Setting Up Microsoft Education" after you click to sync and it may disappear altogether with a refresh. You may need to exit your course and re-open it to access your newly enabled Microsoft Education tools.

Student and instructor enrollments will automatically be synced. This action will create a Teams Class that you can access in your Teams app, which is optional to use. You do not have to activate the Teams Class in order to set up Teams Meetings.

Click to Open Microsoft Education.

You will be prompted to click to sign in every time you access this link, even if you are already signed in to Microsoft. If prompted, use your [email protected] address and password; you may also be prompted for MFA.

Click Continue setup to select your Microsoft Education tools for your course. You will only see this screen at set up.

1. Select your tools by switching the toggle to enable (it will turn purple).

2. Then click Done.

You have the option of using only select tools, such as only Teams Meetings if all you want is a space for live sessions. See the introduction guide to Microsoft Education for a brief description of the various tools available.

At this time, the Reflect and Assignments tools are disabled for UToledo, as Microsoft still has these tools in development.

Your Microsoft Education dashboard will show the tools you have selected. You can click on any of them to expand and set up or access.

If you wish to add or deselect any tools:

1. click on your account image icon

2.select the gear icon for course settings

This will return you to the set up menu to select or deselect tools.

Continue to the next guides for more details on setting up each of these tools for your course.
