Creating a Simple Syllabus Link

This guide will demonstrate how to create a Simple Syllabus link in your Blackboard course to your course syllabus

Generally, the Simple Syllabus link is included in the default course template. These instructions are provided in the instance the link has been deleted.

To create a link to Simple Syllabus in your course:

  1. Click on the plus icon in the location you wish to add the item.
  2. Select Content Market from the menu.

Locate the tile for Simple Syllabus and click on the + sign in the bottom right corner.

The Simple Syllabus link will now appear in the course.

  1. To access the Simple Syllabus content and view or modify your syllabus, click on the Simple Syllabus heading
  2. The item will be hidden from students by default. Click on the Release Conditions link to modify the link visibility for students.
  3. To modify the link title, view student progress, or delete the item, click on the ellipsis menu to the right of the item.

After clicking on the link title, you will be able to view and edit your course syllabus.

Clicking on the Release Conditions link will allow faculty members to change the item availability. For more information please refer to our instructions on Managing Release Conditions

For course syllabi and other important course documents it is recommended to allow access to students for the duration of the course.

To edit the link title and description:

  1. Click on the ellipsis link to the right of the item.
  2. Select Edit from the menu

  1. Click on the link title to edit the title.
  2. Click on the Release Conditions dropdown menu to change the visibility of the item to students.
  3. Check the checkbox to enable course conversations
  4. Type a description for the item in the text box.
  5. When finished, click the Save button at the bottom to save your changes.
