Selecting a Course Structure

In Blackboard Service Pack 8, instructors can choose from a selection of premade course structures that instructors can use in building their online courses.  Blackboard offers over 40 different structures based on different pedagogical strategies or learning management systems.  

This is an optional feature; instructors can also build their course structure manually

Changing the Course Menu Appearance

Log into your Blackboard course and go to the Control Panel.

  1. Click on Customization.
  2. Select Teaching Style.

Changing the Course Structure

You will now see a page labeled Teaching Style. Under the section labeled Select Course Structure, you will see the above image:

  1. Select the desired course structure from the menu on the left.
  2. A preview of the selected structure will appear in the panel on the right
  3. To select a structure, click the Use This Structure button
  4. When finished, click the Submit button.
