Regrading a Test Question

Blackboard allows instructors the option to modify tests that already have student attempts.  Answer choices can be changed and the tests regraded; Questions can be deleted and removed from the students' scores, or instructors can give full credit to all students on a test.

Accessing the Grade Center

Log into your Blackboard course and go the Control Panel:

  1. Click on Grade Center.
  2. Select Full Grade Center.

Locating the Grade Column

Locate the grade column for the test in the grade center.  Click on the chevron in the column header, and select Edit Test from the menu.

Editing the Test

You will now be taken to the test canvas.  After students have attempted the test, the following changes can be made:

  • Textual changes to the questions and answers.
  • Changing answer selections.
  • Deleting questions.
  • Changing Point Values.
  • Designating questions as Extra Credit.
  • Giving credit to all students who attempted a question.

To edit a test question to change answer text or answer choices, click the chevron next to the test question, and select Edit from the menu that appears.

You will now see the test question on screen.  This screen allows you to change the question and the answer text, as well as modify feedback.  To modify the correct answer, select the radio button next to the text box for the correct answer. After you have made your changes, click the button labeled Submit and Update Attempts at the bottom of the page.

Deleting a Test Question

You will now be taken to the test canvas.  After students have attempted the test, the following changes can be made:

  • Textual changes to the questions and answers.
  • Changing answer selections.
  • Deleting questions.
  • Changing Point Values.
  • Designating questions as Extra Credit.
  • Giving credit to all students who attempted a question.

To delete a test question to change answer text or answer choices, click the chevron next to the test question, and select Delete and Regrade from the menu that appears.

Changing the Point Value for a Single Question, Part 1

To change the point value for a single question, locate the question you wish to change the point value for, and click on the point value in the upper right hand corner of the question.

Changing the Point Value for a Single Question, Part 2

After clicking the point value, you will see a dialog box similar to the one above on the screen:

  1. Update Points: Type in the desired point value to update the point value for the question.
  2. Extra Credit: Check this box to designate the question as extra credit.
  3. Full Credit: Check this box to award all students the total point value for the question.
  4. When finished, click the Submit and Regrade button to apply the changes.

Changing the Point Value for Multiple Questions

1.Check the checkboxes next to the questions you wish to change the point values for, or click the Select All link at the top to select all questions.2.Points: Enter the desired point value for each question here.3.When finished, click the Update and Regrade button.

To upgrade the point values for multiple questions:

  1. Check the checkboxes next to the questions you wish to change the point values for, or click the Select All link at the top to select all questions.
  2. Points: Enter the desired point value for each question here.
  3. When finished, click the Update and Regrade button.

Confirmation of Regrading

After submitting any changes, you will see a dialog box similar to the one above.  The wording will change based on the specific action being performed.  Click OK to continue with the changes.
