This guide will demonstrate how to upload a single file to Blackboard.
Adding a Content File
Log into Blackboard and access the content area in which you would like to upload a file to. Please refer to the guide titled Creating a Content Area for more information on how to create a content area. To upload your document:
- Click on Build Content at the top of the page.
- Choose File from the menu that appears.
Uploading the File
You will now see the following screen in Blackboard.
- Name: Enter the desired name for the file.
- Color of Name: Select the desired color for the file link.
- Find File: Select Browse Local Files to upload a file from your computer, or click Browse Course Files to select a file that has already been uploaded to the course.
- Open in New Window: Choose whether to make the link open in a new window (optional)
- Add Alignment to Content: Select whether to add an alignment to the content item (optional)
Making the File Available to Students
- Permit Users to View this Content: Select Yes to allow students to access the file
- Track Number of Views: Select Yes to enable statistics tracking for this file. This will allow instructors to view access reports on the file (optional)
- Select Time and Date Restrictions: Use the date pickers to limit the availability of the file to specific availability period.
- When finished click the Submit button at the bottom of the page.
