Adding a Content File

This guide will demonstrate how to upload a single file to Blackboard.

Adding a Content File

Log into Blackboard and access the content area in which you would like to upload a file to.  Please refer to the guide titled Creating a Content Area for more information on how to create a content area.  To upload your document:

  1. Click on Build Content at the top of the page.
  2. Choose File from the menu that appears.

You will now see the following screen in Blackboard.

  1. Name: Enter the desired name for the file.
  2. Color of Name: Select the desired color for the file link.
  3. Find File: Select Browse Local Files to upload a file from your computer, or click Browse Course Files to select a file that has already been uploaded to the course.
  4. Open in New Window: Choose whether to make the link open in a new window (optional)
  5. Add Alignment to Content: Select whether to add an alignment to the content item (optional)

Making the File Available to Students

This will allow instructors to view access reports on the file (optional)3.Select Time and Date Restrictions: Use the date pickers to limit the availability of the file to specific availability period.4.When finished click the Submit button at the bottom of the page.
